Jazz Pensacola’s Jazz Gumbo: Presents the Sounds of Al Jarreau

The Jazz Society of Pensacola’s Jazz Gumbo (implying a delicious mix of various ingredients giving a wonderful effect) happens every third Monday evening of each month except December. Live jazz is featured in a variety of styles with groups or bands chosen from around the Emerald Coast area. Doors open at 5:30.
August Jazz Gumbo presents the sounds of Al Jarreau. Al Jarreau was the only vocalist in history to receive Grammy Awards in three different categories (Jazz, Pop, and R&B), Al Jarreau drew audiences with his dynamic blend of jazz balladry and vocals. He was a virtuoso performer who balanced smooth lyricism with his own innovative brand of vocalese. The evening features The Curt Bol Band – Bol, vocal; Tom Latenser, bass; Joseph Lyons, drums; Rocky Sleight, keys, Steve Watkins, guitar, and Lara Bol, vocal.
Cost is $10 each for Jazz Pensacola members and guests, $12 for non-members, free for students with ID and military in uniform. Also, join Jazz Pensacola at this event and admission is free. Admission includes a cup of seafood gumbo, and you can order from the menu and cash bar. Hold onto your admission tickets for Door Prize drawings. Attendees can also purchase 50/50 tickets for a cash drawing. The winner gets half, and Jazz Pensacola gets half to benefit its music program.
